Nearly Christmas

Well Christmas is nearly upon us and the sewing is nearly complete. Just a table cloth and
chevron runner to go. Made these cute little Pocha Owls from Christmas scraps for some friends at work.

Quick cross stitch gifts.

Christmas gifts of small cross stitch hangers for the wardrobe. Filled with some lovely "Dusk" potpourri.

The quick type of gift that I stitch during the year when watching T.V. The backing uses up some of those small scraps that are always laying around.

Grrrrrrr Google +

Have been a no reply blogger apparently. Thank you Marina for helping to get rid of that annoying Google+ .Hopefully everything working now.
Chrissie presents nearly all sewn, now to wrap them.
A small lap quilt for a friend is finally completed and will be going to its new home next week.

Little did we know.

Have not blogged for so long! So many ups and downs.
My daughter had what was supposed to be a routine wisdom tooth extraction and ended up a life threatening event over 5 weeks. Infection that closed her throat limiting airways and an operation that saw her in ICU for a week on breathing machines. Not what we expected.

Too little sewing.

A hectic 2 weeks and very little sewing accomplished. Just don't know how some of you have so much to show off! Best I could do was this cute little basketball singlet for a new bub.

Am actually trying to figure out how to place tutorials on my blog at the moment ,with little success. My brain is not coping with all the technology. Sooner or later it will work but please do not hold your breathe.

Lazy Sunday

Did very little today except for some jean hems and a cute little blanket for a new baby boy.

And now have to plan a sweet little girl present as I became a great aunt today to a very healthy 9lb 12 oz baby by the name of Annabelle Rose. Such a lovely old fashioned name.

No voice!

Well the title says it all. I simply have no voice and it is driving me crazy. So to make the best of my enforced days off work what else would you do but sew.
A sweet bunting and a nappy cake.

There are some handmade bibs and headbands in this nappy tower.

WIP , WIP and even more WIP's

My WIP's are multiplying!  Every time I go searching for fabric I find another one. Am trying to be good and not start new things but I have the attention span of a goldfish.
Still working on a denim quilt , a pineapple quilt , a strip quilt , a suckypuff quilt and then we will just say there is about 6 stitcheries , 3 soft dolls ,4 bibs ,2 cutlery sets and 5 pocha owls. Could be more but I did not want to find any. As my nana used to say " that is eloquent sufficiency".
Loving these little porcupines made from a Dolls and Daydreams pattern.
And these are the little Pocha Owls. Supposed to be a symbol of good luck in Japan.

Message to self  , stop becoming distracted !
Oops ,do I really need to go to the Stitches and Craft Show this weekend in Melbourne?
Most DEFINATELY.

Sewing what sewing?

Have not blogged for a while mainly because I have not had time. Life takes control and off it goes.
Couple of small projects.
Another baby bib and a UFO cushion front that was in the bottom of the sewing box!

And  a start on the Christmas gifts!
Santa stocking and cutlery scroll.

Hopefully the next blog will have a completed lap quilt and a baby quilt.

Monday 29 April 2013

Well my son is now married. Our wedding went beautifully and we could not be prouder .

Now to finish some of those UFO's.

Thursday 18 April 2013

Not much time for sewing.

School is back and so begins the hustle and bustle. Of course I managed a little sewing and have finished 1 WIP .
Also managed a small handtowel with cross stitch for the daughter who constantly loses her handtowels by leaving them behind.
Probably will get very little completed as it is only 10 days till my sons wedding. I can live with this as I have waited so long for this event but certainly did not look forward to paying half of all expenses!

Purple Fantasy

Simply cannot get away from purple quilts. First my mum wanted something with purple and she loved the old fashioned look of the fussy cut hydrangeas'.
Then my future daughter in law asked for a quilt in purples with hearts.

And now my aunt has said I would love a purple appliqued quilt with those snowflake diamond things. My heart froze and I have politely declined as there is no way that I could do that until I retire.
Too many WIP's and UFO's to complete.

Tuesday 9 April 2013

Nearly done.

Have completed the quilt top and pieced the  back from left over fabrics. It is a very 'busy ' quilt .
Just wanted to try something completely different and relatively simple using the colours my friend has in her house.
Finishing an embroidered quote for the back and then to begin the sandwiching. I would love to have it completed by next week but..........

Saturday 6 April 2013

Finished stitcheries

Well stitcheries are now complete and ready to be placed in my friends quilt.

Not enough time

Well first week of holidays have passed and I have not been as productive as I could have been. I have finished my stitcheries' (pics to follow later) and a few bibs have been made for those that are pregnant.
3 more nappy cakes to be made and a quilt. People really need to time when they have their babies as these are all due within 1 month of each other.
Good news is that I have wedding shoes and handbag.
Tonight we are off to the hens night . I must behave, I must behave, I must behave.

Monday 1 April 2013

Time for tidying.

Well it is school holidays for me. This means cleaning first and completing all the odd jobs that have been left undone during term. However....... this also includes going through my stash , playing with the fabrics and placing them around corflute.
This will be quite a long task as I did not realize just how much fabric has been purchased !

Although the sun is out Morticia thinks it is time to snuggle in her bed. Such a coldblooded little creature she is.

Not much sewing for tomorrow as I desperately need to shop for shoes and a bag for my sons wedding. Only 4 weeks to go till the big day.

Sunday 24 March 2013

Sunday sewing

A quiet relaxing Sunday and apart from catching up on housework, grocery shopping , buying a new letterbox for my mum, cooking 6 meals for mum and cleaning out the veggie garden I managed to slip in an hour to stitch another owl!
Must include that a lovely lady from The Sewing Library posted a pattern for this owl (thank you very much).

I really have to learn to stay focussed. My friends quilt will not be done in time.

Becoming sidetracked

Supposed to be completing stitcheries for a quilt. Became a little side-tracked and made a cute mum and bub owl.

And then another owl........
My husband has taken to calling me "Fluff" as I can never settle on one thing at a time. There are just sew many things to make and not enough hours in the day. That is the great thing about winter , I can settle on the couch with stitcheries , knitting and my hexie grandmothers garden quilt that has been on the go for 4 years. I vow and declare I will at least have the top all joined before summer comes around again.

Sunday 17 March 2013

Why make life so hard.

Deciding to make a quilt as a gift should be a simple task. This seems easy in theory  but not when it is only 3 weeks before your friends birthday!  To begin,  a couple of hours spent uploading fabric to EQ7 and designing a quilt. Not exactly what I wanted to make but I am sure it will be appreciated.
There are 3 stitcheries (from the Red Brolly design cupboard) that may well be the only things completed. Maybe I should logoff the computer and finish some embroidery.
Embroidered block 1 halfway completed below.
